There’s no better time to travel than in your 20’s, a time where you’re free of so many responsibilities. But with a whole word in front of you, choosing a destination can be tough. To get you started, The Roundtrip Collective has come up with 5 Bucket List travel destinations to visit in your 20’s. If you want to learn how to get paid to visit these destinations for work, join our travel career program!
Barcelona, Spain
If you’re looking for a party scene, Barcelona is your place. I mean, it’s easy to stay out all night with friends while you’re eating tapas, listening to live music, and drinking some delicious Sangria. If you need a break from the late nights, take a tour around the city and see some famous landmarks like Park Güell and La Sagrada Familia. To try something off the beaten path, take a street art tour of the city. The graphics lining the walls of Barcelona are clearly designed by some of the world’s most talented people…even Banksy’s left his mark!
Tokyo, Japan
Tokyo is a place that’s totally unique, making it the perfect city for a 20-some-year-old itching to experience something completely new. From trying authentic sushi (sorry, but California rolls don’t count!), to visiting the city’s various temples, to snapping an epic Instagram picture in the Akihabara District or “Electric Town”, there’s no shortage of cool experiences.
Marrakech, Morocco
Morocco’s a destination that’s becoming increasingly popular, so you’ll want to get there soon in order to avoid a city overrun by tourists. It’s no surprise that Marrakech is becoming a go-to destination for travelers, as sites within the city, such as Medina Souks, are filled with vibrant colors, smells, and sounds, giving tourists a great sense of the county’s amazing culture. If you’re into once-in-a-lifetime experiences, wander a bit outside the city for a desert tour via a camel!
New Orleans, Louisiana, USA
If you’re living in the U.S., this is the closest place you’ll get to a European city without breaking the bank. Whether it’s strolling, or stumbling, down Bourbon Street, taking a food tour of the French Quarter, or learning about all the creepy legends of the city (hope ghosts don’t scare you!), this trip will keep you on your toes. News Oreleans is definitely a gem and is totally affordable for those in their 20’s.
Reykjavik, Iceland
Calling all the outdoor lovers! Iceland is an absolutely beautiful country. The actual city of Reykjavik has a beautiful downtown, lined with unique boutiques where you can get one-of-a-kind items and countless restaurants where you can try new food. However, some of the most breath-taking scenery can be found when you wander a bit outside the city. Be sure to visit the Blue Lagoon, a relaxing geothermal spa and the Bruarfoss Waterfall, a spot that seems photoshopped into the country. If you’re lucky enough to have some extra time, hop over to Faroe Island, a small island off the Icelandic coast where it seems that there are more puffins (the cutest birds you’ll ever see) than actual people!
